Eva Mendes has no problem flaunting her curves on the cover of magazines and on countless red carpets, but her personal life is something she prefers to keep under wraps. The actress opened up in the March issue of Marie Claire about her fitness routine and her delight at taking on edgier movie roles, but veered far away from the topic of current beau Ryan Gosling.

“He’s your dream costar,” was the closest that Mendes, 37, got to gushing about Gosling, 31. “I have never felt so creatively satisfied on a film. He’s amazing.”The two costar in upcoming flick “The Place Beyond the Pines.”
ressed further on her love life, however, Mendes was polite but firm about her boundaries, which she deemed “necessary not just to be a celebrity, but to be a healthy individual.”“I’m not gonna budge,” she said. “I feel uncomfortable talking about it. It’s too personal.”
The two began dating last summer, and Mendes even hung out with Gosling and his mother at the beginning of the new year. “They all hung out and went to the movies together,” a source told People magazine at the time. “Ryan and Eva seemed very happy.”
Mendes was more than happy to talk about her body image in the interview, however, explaining that looks are “something everyone has to work at.”The curvy beauty, who is a celebrity favorite for designers like Oscar de la Renta and Versace, explained that her body image has changed much over the years.
“I realize I have contributed to a certain happy, healthy, empowered image, but that’s not all of me,” she said of her public image. “I feel it’s important to let women know that I have similar struggles. What I tell girls is what they don’t like about themselves now, they will probably end up loving as an adult, because that’s what happened to me.”
