Eva Mendes has no problem flaunting her curves on the cover of magazines and on countless red carpets, but her personal life is something she prefers to keep under wraps. The actress opened up in the March issue of Marie Claire about her fitness routine and her delight at taking on edgier movie roles, but veered far away from the topic of current beau Ryan Gosling.

“He’s your dream costar,” was the closest that Mendes, 37, got to gushing about Gosling, 31. “I have never felt so creatively satisfied on a film. He’s amazing.”The two costar in upcoming flick “The Place Beyond the Pines.”

ressed further on her love life, however, Mendes was polite but firm about her boundaries, which she deemed “necessary not just to be a celebrity, but to be a healthy individual.”“I’m not gonna budge,” she said. “I feel uncomfortable talking about it. It’s too personal.”

The two began dating last summer, and Mendes even hung out with Gosling and his mother at the beginning of the new year. “They all hung out and went to the movies together,” a source told People magazine at the time. “Ryan and Eva seemed very happy.”

Mendes was more than happy to talk about her body image in the interview, however, explaining that looks are “something everyone has to work at.”The curvy beauty, who is a celebrity favorite for designers like Oscar de la Renta and Versace, explained that her body image has changed much over the years.

“I realize I have contributed to a certain happy, healthy, empowered image, but that’s not all of me,” she said of her public image. “I feel it’s important to let women know that I have similar struggles. What I tell girls is what they don’t like about themselves now, they will probably end up loving as an adult, because that’s what happened to me.”

Eva Mendes is featured on the cover of the March issue of Marie Claire….though it barely looks like her! Why on Earth they had to do so much Photoshop on her is beyond me, but she pretty much looks like a huge head on a disproportioned body.Good thing she is wearing this bejeweled Spring/Summer 2012 bustier from Dolce and Gabbana, it’s absolutely stunning on her! Well at least the body parts in the image that actually belong to her.Sorry but I doubt her arms are that thin….and her hair looks like it was pasted on as an afterthought.  I would love to a see a copy of the original image that was shot for this just to compare what was edited.

Eva Mendes has "to work" to stay in shape. The gorgeous actress insisted she isn't blessed with skinny genes and has to work out in order to stay toned. The 37-year-oldprefers to exercise and indulge occasionally rather than cutting out her favourite foods.

"[My philosophy] is to work out and eat what I want.," she told Health & Beauty magazine. "I'm not one of those actresses who they don't have to work at it. I do."The Ghost Rider star also named her favourite health-savvy snacks.  Eva admitted she loves sweets but usually opts for healthier options. But if nothing else works, the Latina sticks to dark chocolate.

"I really like brown rice and vegetable, and always have a couple of apples in my bag. I always drink a glass of water with squeezed lemon juice before bed and when I wake up," she said. "I have a seriously sweet tooth, so I eat dark chocolate to satisfy any cravings."

Eva Mendes says the three-day diet she follows before hitting a red carpet is "amazing". The Hollywood actress has revealed that she sticks to a fish and fruit based meal plan when she is preparing for a big event. Eva credited the diet with making her complexion and figure look gorgeous.

"I do DrPerricone's three-day anti-inflammatory diet based on red berries and salmon. It's amazing the difference you see in your skin and your body," she told Health & Beauty magazine. Eva also shared her favourite Hollywood glam make-up trick. She loves to accentuate her best features.

"I do enjoy make-up; I especially love to highlight my cheeks with a little shimmer," she smiled. Revealing a beauty tip from her mother, the brunette beauty said she only wears one perfume. The 37-year-old said she follows the advice to this day and named her favourite scent. "My mother told me to wear only one fragrance so it becomes yours. Mine is Thierry Mugler's Angel. It's a perfume for the modern woman - independent yet sexy at the same time," she revealed.

Eva Mendes says her enviable body is the result of "consistent hard work". The Hollywood actress is famed for her gorgeous curves, but says her toned physique is the product of a dedicated exercise routine. Mendes tries to work out as much as she can - even fitting it in around her filming schedules.

"I'm not naturally slim but I work out hard and I am consistent. It can be difficult fitting in exercise when I'm on location as there just isn't time, but I always try to do a shortened version of my usual routine," she told Health & Beauty magazine.

"I exercise at least five days a week; I love to run and I mix it up with light weights and squats. I also do yoga twice a week to stretch my body. Plus, it helps with my posture and relaxes my mind."Mendes always sports a beautiful glowing complexion. The 37-year-old star credits her healthy look to a carefully crafted routine.

"I never cared about exercise or what I was eating until I reached my 20s and then I started eating well and going from drinking no water to up to three litres a day," she revealed. "I really believe in the beauty philosophy of starting from within now; it's kind of changed my life."

With her pretty brown and white polka dot dress and matching cardigan, it looked like Eva Mendes was channelling her inner fifties movie star today. The 37-year-old actress looked stylish as she ran errands in Beverly Hills earlier today.

A pair of light grey wedge heels and blue tinted glasses completed the look. With her hair pulled up into a neat ponytail and wearing minimal make-up, the actress remained focused on her mobile phone conversation. But there was no sign of her current beau Ryan Gosling, her co-star in the upcoming crime drama, The Place Beyond the Pines.

The film, which also stars Bradley Cooper, is just one of three movies Eva has coming out this year.
In April, she will appear in low budget comedy Girl in Progress, while she also stars alongside Kylie Minogue in Holly Motors, which she filmed in Paris. The film follows 24 hours in the life of a man travelling between different lives including a murderer, a beggar, a CEO and a father.

The trailer for Girl in Progress reveals that the film -- starring Eva Mendes as a struggling mother of a teenage daughter -- will raise the question of who is actually the parent and who is the child. Mendes’ character seems to be in more trouble than her young daughter (played by Cierra Ramirez). She’s sleeping with a married man, falling behind on her bills and neglecting her 13-year-old daughter. “A coming of age story is the story of a young person’s change from child to adult,” says a teacher in the trailer. As Mendes’ character’s actions become more unstable and erratic, her daughter is forced to grow up and find her independence.

The Pantelion Films movie, directed by Patricia Riggen, also stars Matthew Modine, Patricia Arquette and Eugenio Derbez. It will open in theaters on April 27.

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes stepped out together in September and they've made it to 2012! The couple jetted from L.A. to NYC Friday and over the weekend the actor introduced his new gal to his mom, Donna.

The three went to the movies in Manhattan over the weekend and sources say they all had a blast. And, unnamed insiders say the stars are totally smitten. "They kept kissing and hugging while they waited to board their flight. Eva looked gorgeous and kept smiling," the source at LAX told People.com.

Now, it's unclear how the pair celebrated on New Year's Eve, but we're guessing they spent a quiet evening together. They were seen leaving their hotel early in the evening, and both seemed dressed up but not for a night of partying. We imagine their NYE plans were on the sophisticated, romantic side.
