Eva Mendes says people are shocked when they see her eat bread. The stunning actress insists that unlike most of her Hollywood contemporaries, she doesn't shy away from carbohydrates although she does make sure they're the healthy kind.

In an interview with Zest magazine, she said: "I focus on the inside out - so it's all about what I'm eating, how I'm feeding my body and how much water I'm drinking. I don't eat meat, but I eat a lot of fish and brown rice.
"I love bread, too. People are always surprised when I eat bread in restaurants! I mostly stick to wholemeal, though. "When in doubt, go dark with the food - so I stay away from white pasta, white rice and white bread and that keeps things simple for me."As well as eating fairly healthily, Eva maintains her stunning figure with lots of exercise.

The 37-year-old beauty said: "I hit the gym three to four times a week to do light weights - not too many repetitions - which target my whole body, and some serious cardio - normally sprinting and interval running.
"The minimum I do cardio for is 35 minutes, but you can get a lot done in that time if you use it wisely. And then I spend about an hour on the weight training. I also do yoga twice a week. It's mostly astanga, but my yoga instructor creates a program for me based around what I need - so if my muscles are tight from running, we'll do poses to open everything up."

Not a day goes by without a celeb lady outdoing another in the same threads. Awkward. This week we’ve got smokin’ redhead Karen Elson in a floor length silk Gucci dress from the A/W ’11 collection.

Steering clear of accessories Karen opted for sweet Mary Janes and bright red lipstick. She absolutely rocked this 1970’s style long sleeved dress, and we’ve got to say, she has some serious balls to step out in a dress which Eva Mendes has worn previously.

Eva was spotted in hers at the Tribeca Film Festival last April and wore hers with nude peep-toe Jimmy Choo’s. While Karen looked quite vintage inspired with her more simple approach, Eva upped the glamour ante with some purse-crippling jewels from Van Cleef and Arpels.

There’s no denying both ladies are absolute fitties, and with matching red-hot lipstick and tousled hairstyles- they’ve both played a rather similar game of dress-up here. However the question must be answered, who wore this Gucci gown best? Over to you, heatworld.

Eva Mendes is the new mane woman for Pantene Pro-V Breakage to Strength—she's also super-funny. We asked the Last Night actress about the looks that almost broke her strands and her heart, and for her best hair-care tips, no matter how embarrassing.

Is there a style that you wear a lot in the summer? "I like to wear my down, but it's a lot of hair—it's like a fur. So I'm a big fan of a ponytail. I think ponytails are very sexy, actually. Especially if you have beachy hair because you've been lying out and you have a little bit of that crazy texture."

Hair-washing frequency is a topic of much debate in our offices and amongst our readers: How often do you shampoo your hair? "I have to wash my hair often because I do abuse it and I put a lot of product in it and I have to wash it out. I'll only ever go one day without shampooing, at the most."

And it doesn't dry out? "I leave a deep conditioner in my hair overnight. I sleep in a shower cap on and rinse it off in the morning. Not sexy at all, but it really helps."

Are we talking plastic shower cap or a pretty satin one? "Whatever. Actually, funnily enough, when I first started doing this like 10 years ago, I would always feel so guilty about having extra plastic bags around that I would sleep with a bag over my hair. Again, really not a sexy look. But now, I don't even bring home plastic bags at all, so I don't do that anymore."

What's your typical hair routine? "I tend to like to wash my hair at night and let it settle in. Not go to sleep with it wet, just kind of finger-dry it. Like when you dry it with your fingers and the hairdryer."But you do it half way, not all the way? "Halfway, exactly. Because then you fall asleep and you wake up and you can either blow-dry it straight or you can go with it, a little crazy. It's pretty awesome."

Do you wear your hair down or up when you sleep? "I wear it down, unless it's super hot, then I have to put it in a very unattractive bun at the top of my head."The unicorn horn? "Exactly, the unicorn horn. I used to do that to clean the house too."

Has there been a hair cut or color that you've regretted? "Yeah. I produced and starred in this little movie called Live about three years ago, and I'm actually really proud of it. But I made a character choice to cut my hair about chin length and then dye it as light as it can go without turning orange. And I just thought it was an atrocious look. It really worked for the character though."

How long did it take you get your hair back to normal? "It took me a few months. And sometimes pictures will pop up because I went to a couple of events with that hair. Just awful."

Did you ever do a cut or color yourself? "Yes, I would color myself when I was in high school; we used to use peroxide. That was the worst. When you have dark hair, peroxide is not kind. And why we thought [that] orange was a good color for the hair, I have no idea. But definitely, I went through the stages where I'd think, I could cut my hair. It was always a bad idea."

Eva Mendes heads to Chateau Marmont for a meeting on Thursday (July 14) in Los Angeles. The 37-year-old actress paired her white tank with alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet’s coral high waist wide leg pant, which she also wore last month while out with her dog.  Eva, who’s currently the face of Thierry Mugler’s Angel, has two new movies she’ll soon be working on. Eva is slated to star in the dramedy See If I Care, as well as The Place Beyond the Pines opposite Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling.

The mostly private beauty was photographed by paparazzi as she arrived at a private residence in Los Angeles, California on Thursday, July 14th, 2011. Always on trend, Mendes wore a pair of coral colored dress pants with a tucked in tank top and a striped cardigan over her shoulders. She finished her look with an oversized green handbag with gold accents.

In an attempt to conceal her face, Eva let down her ponytail and proceeded to cover her face with her hair! Did she want us to confuse her for Cousin It?

With every new spokeswoman for the famous scent, a special something is guaranteed – and Hollywood fave Mendes (Hitch, Ghost Rider, Stuck On You) does not disappoint. Not only does she front the stunning print campaign, she lends her voice to the brand’s TV commercial, in a breathless, rather seamless version of The Windmills of My Mind. Girl can actually sing – who knew?

The new face of Angel looked breathtaking in a custom made Mugler creation, complete with a wing-tipped bustier, and three sparkling silver stars. When spending the evening with designer friends, there is a little extra pressure to look fabulous. Eva Mendes had no problem looking the part when she stepped out in New York last night with designer Rachel Roy. The actress looked gorgeous in a backless blue dress as the pair left the Greenwich hotel in Tribeca.

The Hitch star teamed the high-necked dress with silver heels and stacked bangles. Designer Rachel wore a pin-stripe blazer with a ruffled white top and striped midi-skirt. The friends shared a laugh as they drove off in their chauffeured car.

Earlier in the day both ladies watched the Salvatore Ferragamo's Women's Resort 2012 Collection at James B. Duke Mansion in New York. Eva wore a tan and white dress with a deep V-neckline and swishy skirt. She sat next to fellow actresses Freida Pinto and Emma Roberts at the show, and chatted to Rachel and designer James Ferragamo.

Meanwhile it has emerged that Mendes has been spotted on a second date with SNL star Jason Sudeikis. The 37-year-old star recently joined Sudeikis, 35, for a double date with Jason Bateman and his wife at a restaurant in New York on June 24. An onlooker said to Life & Style: 'They dined together at L'Artusi in the West Village.

'When Eva wanted a cigarette, they all went outside for a smoke break and the Saturday Night Live funnyman was overheard saying: 'We're a great team!'"Barely a week before the pair were seen holding hands at the 24 Hour Plays benefit in Santa Monica. It's claimed they were spotted kissing in the car park after the show.
