With Eva arriving at the official launch of the new Angel fragrance campaign – see the stunning print ad here, as well as pics from the launch – in New York City on June 23, all eyes were on the actress.
The new face of Angel looked breathtaking in a custom made Mugler creation, complete with a wing-tipped bustier, and three sparkling silver stars. Although the ad won’t officially debut until September, guests at the event were given an exclusive viewing. And now NineToFive readers can have a sneak peek too!
Says Eva of the signature heady scent: “Once you commit, once you fall in love with Angel, you wear it for a lifetime.”You said that right, Eva. The sweet, distinctive Angel scent is as famous as it is hard-to-miss.
The image portrayed by Angel, the first fragrance from fashion designer Thierry Mugler, has always been of paramount importance to the brand’s overall presence. In 1992 when he launched Angel, Mugler chose model Estelle Lefébure as his very first muse, perched atop a New York skyscraper, wearing a black suit and swathed in a blue muslin scarf.
Next came uber-model and veteran clothes-horse Jerry Hall in 1995, who was dressed in a silver gown on the dunes of White Sands National Park in New Mexico. Amy Wesson came next in 1998, emulating a crystal angel, echoing Angel and its star-shaped bottle. Next was Anna Maria Cseh’s 2003 portrayal, fervently protecting her precious Angel perfume, with the stunning Bianca Balti enthralling us as the face of the fragrance in 2006.
By 2008, Australian beauty Naomi Watts took over the reigns as the new ethereal Angel, and now, Eva Mendes - the complete beauty-meets-serious-acting-chops package - is the latest stunning face of the brand. And homewares designer? Oh yes. Check out her talking up her homewares line on the Ellen show – sold in the US at Macys: To get your hands on one of perfume’s classics make your way to good pharmacies, department stores and perfume chains nationally.
